Seu uso ajudaria a reduzir o impacto ambiental que os herbicidas qu\u00edmicos t\u00eam e evitaria que resist\u00eancias ocorressem devido ao uso excessivo das solu\u00e7\u00f5es atuais.<\/p>\n<p>Segundo Mercedes Verdeguer, pesquisadora do IAM, o projeto surgiu da necessidade de fornecer novas ferramentas aos agricultores. \u201cH\u00e1 muito tempo, a agricultura vem exigindo novas solu\u00e7\u00f5es de controle de ervas daninhas mais amig\u00e1veis ao meio ambiente\u201d, disse ela. \u201cEm 2009, houve uma mudan\u00e7a na legisla\u00e7\u00e3o europeia visando o uso sustent\u00e1vel de produtos fitossanit\u00e1rios e a promo\u00e7\u00e3o de estrat\u00e9gias de manejo integrado de pragas.
