As condi\u00e7\u00f5es na Argentina e no resto da Am\u00e9rica do Sul prepararam o cen\u00e1rio para pre\u00e7os mais altos no futuro, diz Mike Woolverton, Extens\u00e3o Agr\u00edcola do Estado do Kansas<\/a>EUA. O clima quente e seco causou as piores condi\u00e7\u00f5es de cultivo das safras de ver\u00e3o em pelo menos cinquenta anos, e os meteorologistas n\u00e3o preveem grande al\u00edvio nos pr\u00f3ximos dois meses. De acordo com o governo argentino \u2013 que declarou estado de emerg\u00eancia agr\u00edcola e suspendeu as exporta\u00e7\u00f5es de trigo \u2013 a produ\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola pode estar 50% abaixo do normal. A seca e as altas temperaturas \u2013 acima de 38\u00b0C \u2013 prejudicaram o trigo durante o per\u00edodo reprodutivo e o milho durante a poliniza\u00e7\u00e3o. A extens\u00e3o das perdas nas safras s\u00f3 ser\u00e1 conhecida ap\u00f3s a colheita, em mar\u00e7o e abril.<\/p>\n

Ap\u00f3s o governo argentino impor recentemente o imposto de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o 48% sobre a soja, que continua em vigor, os agricultores protestaram e bloquearam estradas e terminais de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o. As principais organiza\u00e7\u00f5es agr\u00edcolas da Argentina concordaram com uma nova greve, possivelmente j\u00e1 em fevereiro, embora o governo tenha anunciado isen\u00e7\u00f5es fiscais para os agricultores ao declarar o estado de emerg\u00eancia agr\u00edcola.<\/p>\n

Os pa\u00edses vizinhos da Am\u00e9rica do Sul tamb\u00e9m sofreram danos \u00e0s planta\u00e7\u00f5es devido \u00e0s condi\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas extremas. O Paraguai, quarto maior produtor e exportador mundial de soja, anunciou que produzir\u00e1 431 TP3T a menos de soja nesta temporada do que no ano passado. Os estados mais ao sul do Brasil tamb\u00e9m sofreram com a seca, com uma perda potencial de 101 TP3T na produtividade da soja. Enquanto o governo brasileiro prev\u00ea uma redu\u00e7\u00e3o de 3,81 TP3T na produ\u00e7\u00e3o nacional de soja, estimativas privadas preveem uma perda de 71 TP3T.
