A DuPont assumiu esse desafio, respondendo com subsidi\u00e1rias <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pioneer.com\/web\/site\/portal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pioneiro Hi-Bred <\/a>H\u00edbridos de marca para toler\u00e2ncia \u00e0 seca, que n\u00e3o s\u00f3 s\u00e3o capazes de sobreviver em condi\u00e7\u00f5es de seca, mas tamb\u00e9m podem ter desempenho competitivo se as condi\u00e7\u00f5es de umidade do solo melhorarem.<br \/> Outra nova tecnologia \u00e9 o Herculex XTRA, que protege as ra\u00edzes do milho da press\u00e3o do verme da raiz em diversas condi\u00e7\u00f5es de cultivo.<\/p>\n<p>Em testes comparativos na Universidade de Illinois, os h\u00edbridos Pioneer com Herculex XTRA tiveram desempenho significativamente melhor do que a caracter\u00edstica YieldGard VT Triple contra infesta\u00e7\u00e3o muito alta de vermes da raiz do milho, o que pode causar perdas de rendimento de 10% a mais de 30%.<\/p>\n<p>O defensor h\u00edbrido da Monsanto contra a lagarta-da-raiz do milho \u2014 o YieldGard Corn Borer, combinado com a caracter\u00edstica Roundup Ready Corn 2 \u2014 foi recentemente aprovado pela UE para uso em alimentos e ra\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Com o aumento das planta\u00e7\u00f5es de milho em todo o mundo devido ao boom do etanol, os produtores de sementes incorporaram a necessidade de maior produ\u00e7\u00e3o de etanol em suas ofertas. <br \/> A marca Mycogen da Dow AgroSciences, um h\u00edbrido de milho altamente ferment\u00e1vel, apresenta Herculex XTRA para prote\u00e7\u00e3o contra insetos e as mais recentes op\u00e7\u00f5es de controle de ervas daninhas para maior rendimento.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Schumacher, especialista em marketing da Mycogen Seeds, diz: \u201cComo as proje\u00e7\u00f5es da ind\u00fastria preveem que a demanda por milho para etanol mais que dobrar\u00e1 na pr\u00f3xima d\u00e9cada, os produtores precisam se armar com h\u00edbridos de milho de alto rendimento e altamente ferment\u00e1veis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A soja Roundup RReady2Yield de pr\u00f3xima gera\u00e7\u00e3o da Monsanto tem um benef\u00edcio de rendimento melhorado de 7% para 11% sobre a soja Roundup Ready de primeira gera\u00e7\u00e3o da empresa. A Dow estima um lan\u00e7amento em 2012 para essas caracter\u00edsticas para milho e 2014 para soja.<\/p>\n<p class=\"subhead\">Pesquisa Especializada<\/p>\n<p>A pesquisa em variedades geneticamente modificadas est\u00e1 se tornando um esfor\u00e7o mais especializado em todo o mundo para levar as mesmas vantagens desfrutadas por grandes planta\u00e7\u00f5es para campos menores.<\/p>\n<p>Na \u00cdndia, a praga da broca de frutas e brotos \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel por perdas significativas na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de berinjela.
