A batata \u00e9 a terceira cultura alimentar mais importante do mundo em termos de consumo humano, atr\u00e1s do trigo e do arroz, com cerca de 18 milh\u00f5es de hectares em produ\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEsta patente representa outro passo fundamental em nossa marcha persistente em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a sistemas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de culturas mais sustent\u00e1veis, alavancando o poder do biocontrole\u201d, disse Fran\u00e7ois Lamoureux, CEO da CXC. \u201cEmbora v\u00e1rios biofungicidas importantes tenham surgido nos \u00faltimos 15 anos, os biocontroles eficazes visando pat\u00f3genos bacterianos de plantas permaneceram indefinidos. Essas cepas produzem propriedades desej\u00e1veis que inibem ou suprimem o crescimento de <em>Escabiose por Streptomyces<\/em>. A patente enfatiza que essas cepas agem sinergicamente, o que significa que trabalham juntas para aumentar os efeitos bioprotetores contra o pat\u00f3geno.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO sucesso dessas cepas envolve a intera\u00e7\u00e3o de culturas microbianas de forma cooperativa, onde um microrganismo pode influenciar as atividades metab\u00f3licas de outro para garantir sua efic\u00e1cia na prote\u00e7\u00e3o de uma das culturas alimentares mais importantes do mundo\u201d, disse o cientista-chefe do CXC, Dr. Fazli Mabood.<\/p>\n<p>A sarna da batata \u00e9 particularmente problem\u00e1tica para os agricultores porque, uma vez <em>Escabiose por Streptomyces<\/em> \u00e9 estabelecido em um campo, ele pode persistir no solo por muitos anos como um sapr\u00f3fito em restos de plantas e mat\u00e9ria org\u00e2nica.
