Oklahoma e Texas s\u00e3o o segundo e o terceiro maiores estados de inverno vermelho duro (HRW), respectivamente, nos EUA. Espera-se que uma seca cont\u00ednua em ambos os estados resulte em rendimentos muito mais baixos. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nass.usda.gov\/\">Servi\u00e7o Nacional de Estat\u00edsticas Agr\u00edcolas <\/a>(NASS) relata que 70% da safra de Oklahoma e 75% da safra do Texas est\u00e3o em condi\u00e7\u00f5es \u201cruins\u201d a \u201cmuito ruins\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Em mais m\u00e1s not\u00edcias, o plantio de trigo vermelho duro de primavera (HRS) dos EUA est\u00e1 bem atrasado, com apenas 15% da safra plantada, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 32% no mesmo per\u00edodo do ano passado e a m\u00e9dia de cinco anos de 36%. Um plantio t\u00e3o tardio resulta em menos acres de HRS plantados e tamb\u00e9m pode deixar a safra mais vulner\u00e1vel a danos clim\u00e1ticos no final da temporada.<\/p>\n<p>Mais ao sul, os produtores da Argentina foram atingidos pela pior seca do pa\u00eds em 70 anos. Com as colheitas de milho e soja de 2008\/09 j\u00e1 devastadas, espera-se que as planta\u00e7\u00f5es de trigo de 2009 tamb\u00e9m sofram severamente. Estimativas do <a href=\"http:\/\/www.afmorg.net\/index.php?name=ImageGalleryNew&amp;file=index&amp;func=popupCat&amp;id=80\">Bolsa de Cereais de Buenos Aires <\/a>a previs\u00e3o de plantio pode cair para 3,7 milh\u00f5es de hectares (9,1 milh\u00f5es de acres) \u2014 o menor n\u00edvel desde que a bolsa come\u00e7ou a manter registros em 1910. Para proteger o suprimento dom\u00e9stico, a Argentina historicamente restringiu as exporta\u00e7\u00f5es.
