Isoproturon To Be Phased-Out In UK

Isoproturon, which was added to Annex I of the EU agrochemical registration Directive (91/414) in 2002 and is currently used in over 50 products and mixtures in the UK, had a stipulation in its Annex I inclusion allowing for EU member states to observe the protection of aquatic organisms and impose risk mitigation methods. UK officials have since decided that the risk "cannot be satisfactorily managed."

However, if approval holders of combination products feel their product does not present environmental risks, they may submit suitable risk assessments showing safe and effective use.
