The Jebagro business model
How the plant protection subsidiary came into being and how it operates today
The companies in the Jebsen & Jessen Group can look back on a 125 year-old history – and this tradition includes innovative services and the best service for their customers. The two founders Jacob Jebsen and Heinrich Jessen made a decision to set up a joint business in Hong Kong whilst in the bar of the German Club in Shanghai on New Year’s Eve in 1894 – a memorable moment in an equally memorable place. This became a reality on 1st March 1895. Under the main brand of Jebsen, Jebsen & Co. today has four Core Business Lines – Motors, Beverage, Consumer and Jebsen Capital – and two further established business lines around Industrial and Logistics. Jebsen offers extensive and specialized local market access to over 200 of the world’s premium brands, such as the German premium car manufacturer Porsche.
In 1963 Jebsen & Jessen set up the office in Singapore and started building partnerships with global market leaders, facilitating and capitalizing on opportunities throughout South East Asia. As an industrial enterprise, the business extends to manufacturing, engineering, and distribution activities. AgroPlazo/ Suppliers Credit
In a traditional business transaction, there are two parties involved. A buyer and a seller. Between the two parties, the general conditions of the business are agreed upon. For a lot of agrochemical suppliers, there is one limiting factor: Payment terms. A lot of today’s buyers of agrochemical products are requesting extensive payment terms to help covering the time between buying the goods and receiving the payment from their own customers. AgroPlazo is a business model that helps to provide the conditions that are needed by either, the supplier or the customer, to bridge this gap and thus help expanding their business. In addition, Jebagro offers its logistic service to get the goods from origin to destination with utmost convenience.

Jebagro has offices in Germany, Panama, China, and India as well as several representatives in Central- and South America. This broad network is the foundation of our sourcing service. Jebagro helps to find the right source for chemical crop protection products in China or India. Thereby, Jebagro emphasizes to find and source products that comply with the highest industry standards at competitive prices. Our large demand allows us to bundle volumes and deliver the goods under competitive conditions.
Own Registrations
In 2017, Jebagro bought its first package of chemical crop protection registrations in Central America from the Israeli company Stockton. This was the start of Jebagro’s involvement as registration owner of crop protection products in Central America. Since then, Jebagro has invested a lot of resources into the development of its own portfolio with the aim to offers both, high quality commodity products as well as differentiated products. Today, Jebagro has its own portfolio in 10 countries, reaching from Guatemala down to Argentina. Jebagro’s products undergo a separate quality control and inspection to assure that the products are of excellent quality.
