DuPont’s Dr. John Bedbrook, vice-president of agriculture and nutrition research and development, accepted the awards for most innovative chemistry, best novel agricultural biotechnology, and best R&D pipeline on behalf of DuPont. The company’s new insecticide, Rynaxypyr (chlorantraniliprole) received the award for most innovative chemistry; its Optimum GAT herbicide tolerance system won for best novel agricultural biotechnology, and the balanced biotech and crop protection portfolio in development earned the company the best R&D pipeline award.
The best new crop protection product award went to Monsanto’s insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant YieldGard VT Triple maize. The best formulations innovation award went to Dow for its EcoZome technology.

Other awards included one for the best supporting role, which went to the contract research company, Huntingdon Life Sciences; the best public outreach program was awarded to the German Crop Protection Pest Control and Fertilizer Association for its “Food for Life!” program; and the best stewardship program award wen to CropLife Canada for its “stewardshipfirst” program.
