DuPont’s agriculture business took a hit in the second quarter by lower corn seed sales, North American herbicide volumes and higher seed inventory write-downs.

杜邦表示,这一结果部分被更高的种子价格、更高的杀虫剂产量、更高的大豆产量和更低的种子投入成本所抵消。

Sales for the agriculture segment, which is DuPont’s largest business by sales, totaled $3.62 billion, unchanged from the year-ago period. The segment’s operating earnings were $836 million, down 11% from $941 million a year earlier.

“While lower Agriculture earnings impacted our results this quarter, we continue to see strong science-driven growth in this segment over the long term,” said CEO Ellen Kullman.
