Cane sugar production in Peru is expected to climb from 910,000 metric tons (MT) last season to 995,000 MT this year, and could be in line for further increases. The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Foreign Agriculture Service (美国农业部-FAS) 报告称，秘鲁最快可在 2009 年实现食糖自给。
