However, in 2024 for the U.S. market, this changed.<\/p>\n<p>That was the year that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began introducing new regulations for crop protection product applications tied to the Endangered Species Act (ESA). As Terry Kippley, President and CEO at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cpda.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u519c\u4e1a\u6280\u672f\u751f\u4ea7\u8005\u548c\u5206\u9500\u5546\u59d4\u5458\u4f1a (CPDA)<\/a>, explains, this represented a game-changer for the adjuvants category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore 2025, drift reduction and soil retention adjuvants showed up as tiny blips on a farm\u2019s radar screen,\u201d says Kippley. \u201cNow, they are valuable tools to help the industry meet the ESA requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Increasing Demand<\/h2>\n<p>According to EPA, the goal of the ESA is \u201cto develop a broad approach to address spray drift and runoff transport from treated fields to minimize exposure\u201d for wildlife and plants. Since these new requirements began appearing, adjuvant companies have noted a definite uptick in product demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(ESA has) quietly became the strongest regulatory driver in adjuvant innovation and use,\u201d says Landon Bunderson, Chief Science Officer at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nano-yield.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u7eb3\u7c73\u4ea7\u91cf<\/a>. \u201cWhen label changes reflect lower use rates and decreased frequency, the industry must do more with less. What that ultimately means for the grower is, \u2018I better make sure that I\u2019m hitting my target with the most potency possible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Biological Efficacy<\/h2>\n<p>Another development for adjuvants is that U.S. growers have increasingly turned to biologicals in their crop fields, with a need for compatible adjuvants. These products, added to the application mix, can help with efficacy and handling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see the\u202fadjuvants\u202fmarket\u202ffor biologicals\u202fas early stage but growing quickly,\u201d says Ganesh Sanganwar, Ph.D., Business Development Manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.syensqo.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u897f\u6069\u65af\u79d1<\/a>.\u202f\u201cWhat is clear is that biological adoption is\u202fincreasing and\u202fexpanding beyond high value crops,\u202fcreating\u202fa stronger need for adjuvant technologies that make biological products easier to handle and more consistent in the field.\u202fWe believe adjuvants will grow with biologicals but also contribute\u202fgreatly to\u202ftheir larger adoption by\u202fenabling them\u202fto\u202fbridge\u202fthe performance gap with traditional inputs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The numbers seem to back up Sanganwar\u2019s assertion. According to the data, the U.S. biologicals market was estimated to be worth approximately $5 billion in 2025, with a projected compound annual growth rate of between 8% and 13%\u202fthrough 2030. Market watchers credit the rise in regenerative agriculture, carbon programs, and precision agriculture for much of this projected growth, not to mention the increasing popularity of organic farming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe status of the adjuvant market for biologicals is one of opportunity, for both in-can formulation development and tank mix adjuvants, in which shelf life, handling, and performance can be addressed,\u201d says Gregory Lindner, Research Director at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.croda.com\/en-gb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Croda Inc.\u202f<\/a>\u201cThe adjuvant market specifically for biologicals as a sole treatment is currently small but growing and likely to parallel the growth of the biopesticide market for \u2018organic-certified\u2019 production
