Bayer CropScience Subsidiary Opens Spanish R&D Center

Global vegetable genetics and services company Nunhems — a subsidiary of Bayer CropScience — which already has locations in Valencia, Murcia and Almeria, Spain, has inaugurated a new experimental station in Cartagena in the region of Murcia, Spain, according to a company press release. The facility will cover 16 hectares to breed new varieties of meon, lettuce, artichokes and peppers. The program will also involve phytopathology research in these four crops. Construction was started in 2006; since then, Nunhems has invested approximately US $2.8 million at the site.
