FMC Corp. Acquires Japanese Herbicide

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, US — FMC Corp. has acquired the herbicide fluthiacet-methyl from Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., and Ihara Chemical Industry Co., both of Tokyo, according to an FMC press release. FMC, which distributes the herbicide in the US under the brand name Cadet, will now develop the herbicide globally. Fluthiacet-methyl is a broad-spectrum herbicide currently registered for early postemergence use on corn, soybeans and cotton in the US. It is effective on many tough-to-control broadleaf weeds that have developed resistance to glyphosate.
