Syngenta Acquires Goldsmith Seeds

Goldsmith Seeds is headquartered in Gilroy, California, US, since its inception in 1962. The 1,500 employee business, owned and operated by the Goldsmith family, has breeding and production facilities in Gilroy, as well as production facilities in Guatemala. Reported sales in 2007/2008 were $50 million. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2008, pending regulatory approvals.
