DuPont Earns New Registrations; Settles Spat With MANA

DuPont earned registration approvals in Japan and Brazil for insect control products powered by Rynaxypyr. These new products provide growers rapid, long-lasting protection of fruit, vegetable, rice and other field crops, improving crop quality and yields, according to DuPont.

Rynaxypyr contains the only approved active ingredient from the Anthranilic diamide class of insecticides, according to DuPont, which began marketing product in 2007 in the Philippines and Indonesia. Since then, registrations have been obtained in more than 45 countries, including seven European Union countries, the United States and Canada.

Investments in new crop protection products like Rynaxypyr are part of the $700 million in research and development DuPont is committing annually to increase global food production.

The Food & Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization Codex Alimentarius Commission of the United Nations has established international food standards for this new active ingredient in a wide range of crops that are major commodities in international trade.

“With the growing number of countries registering products powered by Rynaxypyr, including major importing and exporting countries, growers will have far more opportunities to develop new markets for their crops without worrying about import restrictions,” DuPont Crop Protection President James C. Collins said in a press release.

In other DuPont news, the company entered into a royalty-bearing license agreement with Makhteshim Agan of North America (MANA) for DuPont products related to a novel homogeneous blend technology that enable the efficient combination of different pesticides, according to a press release.

This agreement confirms the validity of certain DuPont patents granted in the United States and Canada and settles the litigation claims between MANA and DuPont regarding the U.S. patent. Additional details of the agreement were not disclosed.
