ADM to Collaborate on Crop-Based Plasticizers
Decatur-based grain-processing and ethanol giant Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) has agreed to collaborate with chemicals and polymer maker PolyOne Corp. on research to develop "bio-based" plasticizers based on agricultural crops such as corn and oilseeds. Plasticizers are generally made from petroleum bases; the alliance between ADM and Cleveland, Ohio, US-based PolyOne will work on developing and commercializing plasticizers renewable feedstocks.
