Avesthagen, Limagrain Acquire Indian Seed Companies
The companies acquired were Swaghat Seeds of Hyderabad and Cee Kay Seeds & Seedlings of Bangalore. The goal of the acquisitions is to use Avesthagen’s technologies to improve the productivity of crops in stressed conditions such as drought or salinity.
Last year, Avesthagen and Limagrain set up a joint venture Indian seed company, Atash Seeds, to develop new crop varieties for farmers in Karnataka and elsewhere in the country.
