ADM Partners With Alianca For Sustainable Soy

Global agricultural processing leader Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), based in Decatur, Illinois, has partnered with Alianca Da Terra, a leading advocate for sustainable farming in Brazil, to support sustainable soy farming practices in Brazil. The program, called Doing it Right, encourages Brazilian soy growers to adopt sustainable farming practices, reports PRNewswire.

Doing it Right (in Portuguese, Produzindo Certo) is funded by ADM Cares, ADM’s corporate giving program, helps growers make each hectare of farmland achieve its maximum yield potential, with the goal of increasing farmers’ profitability while reducing the environmental impact of their operations and helping to ensure good working conditions for farm employees.

The program’s first phase began in December in Querencia, Mato Grosso, Brazil. The meeting was attended by more than 100 prospective grower participants, who will benefit from instruction in agronomic and operational best practices to help improve yields. ADM will fund Alianca Da Terra to visit farms and map the land, analyze farming operations, and identify strengths and areas for improvement. Following this mapping and analysis, growers commit to a plan of action. After one year, Alianca Da Terra will return to evaluate their progress and compliance with the plan.
