BASF’s Status Registered For Popcorn
The herbicide Status (sodium dicambate + sodium diflufenzopyr) from BASF is now registered for use on popcorn in the US, per a company release. The broad-spectrum herbicide was launched for US corn last year, and “has quickly become the premier herbicide for broadleaf weed control in corn,” said Dan Westberg, Ph.D., BASF Technical Marketing Manager.
Nearly all of the world’s popcorn is produced in the US, with average annual production of almost 500,000 tons. Status’ wide application window, crop safety, and crop rotation flexibility make it a good fit for popcorn growers, says the company, which adds that in addition to being used as a stand-alone product for broadleaf weed control in conventional corn, Status is also an ideal tank-mix partner with glyphosate in Roundup Ready corn.
