Dow Acquires Syngenta Research Station

Dow AgroSciences has expanded its PhytoGen cottonseed research with a move to a newly acquired 225-acre facility in Leland, Mississippi, US which it purchases from Syngenta Crop Protection.

“The new facility will give the company’s emerging research, breeding, and development programs room to grow,” said John Pellow, field station manager for PhytoGen.

“This station is a big step forward in our research and breeding capabilities. Its top-notch facilities and Class 1 soils will allow us to expand on the consistency and excellence growers have come to expect from PhytoGen breeding programs,” Pellow said.

This year PhytoGen released PHY 375 RF, its first early season WideStrike Insect Protection/Roundup Ready Flex stacked variety. This variety is the latest in a portfolio that will begin including full-season offerings and in-plant technologies like root-knot nematode, reniform nematode, and seedling disease resistance; plant bug tolerance; specialty fibers; and more.
