Philippines Approves Biofuel Bill

The Philippine government has approved a bill which will mandate the use of bio-fuels in the nation’s cars and machinery.

The Biofuels Bill, approved by the Philippine Senate in October, mandates a 5% blend of ethanol in gasoline as well as a 1% mix of coco methyl ester in diesel within two years of the law’s enactment. The blends will then be increased to 10% for ethanol and to 2% for bio-diesel four years after enactment.
