Syngenta Buys Monsanto’s Sunflower Seeds Activities

BASEL, Switzerland– Syngenta recently closed a deal to acquire Monsanto’s global hybrid sun flower seeds activities, according to a press release.

The $160 million deal allows Syngenta germplasm and related IP rights, all sunflower breeding activities, certain activities in field production as well as the global distribution rights for all Monsanto sunflower hybrids.

The deal was originally announced on 6 August, 2009, but did not officially close until merger filing procedures through the European Commission were completed.
