U.S.: Atticus Appoints New Government and Industry Affairs Vice President
Atticus recently appointed Scott Kuschmider to the newly created position of vice president, government and industry affairs. In this role, Kuschmider will develop and implement strategies to effectively engage with government entities, monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advocate for the interests of both Atticus and the industries it serves.
As vice president, Kuschmider will be based in Washington, D.C., and will bring awareness to areas that support and encumber growth while advocating for Atticus and the broader industry. His responsibilities will include legislative and administrative government offices, including elected officials, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Justice and bodies responsible for trade, enforcement and foreign investment in the U.S. He will also represent Atticus on advocacy matters with influential industry and grower associations, according to the company.
“We are excited to introduce the newly created position, vice president, government and industry affairs, as a critical function in scaling Atticus to its full potential,” said Randy Canady, Atticus founder and CEO. “We are honored to secure such an experienced, driven and well-networked professional as Scott Kuschmider. We look forward to acclimating Scott to Atticus, but of greater significance, acclimating Atticus to D.C.”
Kuschmider spent 10 years working for multiple members of Congress, including four years on the majority staff of the House Committee on Agriculture, first as professional staff, then later as subcommittee staff director. He has since spent 14 years in the private sector with Monsanto and, most recently, with Bayer as a vice president of ag affairs and policy. During that time, Kuschmider established and implemented strategies for material business priorities supporting bringing agricultural innovation to market, including large-scale commercial seed and biotech trait approvals and registrations for major domestic and export markets.
