UPL Acquires Cerexagri

Cerexagri’s business is dominated by fungicides (which account for 75% of Cerexagri’s sales) as well as post-harvest products for fruits and vegetables, in which it is among the world’s leaders. Cerexagri will also bring UPL its strong distribution network in Europe and the US, where it achieves 80% of its sales. It has manufacturing sites in Europe and a workforce of apporximately 630 people.

UPL’s portfolio of insecticides, herbicides and fumigants, will be filled out with the fungicides range from Cerexagri. This acquisition continues UPL’s aggressive growth strategy, as it will be UPL’s fifth in this calendar year following the acquisitions of Advanta BV, Crop Serve, products from Bayer Cropscience, and bensulfuron from Dupont.

UPL stock immediately advanced 2.64% following the announcement of the deal. The company’s consolidated net profit rose 34% in September 2006 on 17% growth in revenue.
