Verde Bio-Science Adds Director of Research and Product Development
Verde Bio-Science, Inc.added chemist Dr. Robert (Andy) Hudson to its staff. “Dr. Andy,” now Director of Research and Product Development, is working on new and patentable specialty products for the agricultural crop input company, according to a company statement.
Currently Verde Bio-Science has 17 products ranging from a food attractant for bees, to a frost inhibitor for plants and trees, to organics and growth stimulators for seeds, roots, and plants. The company has designs for several new agricultural products including bio-fungicides, a bio-nematicide, and bio-insecticides. Dr. Andy is currently researching and developing these new state-of-the-art biocides, according to the company.
Dr. Andy’s background includes 38 years of formulation discovery for both food and commercial products, according to the statement. His inventions have included dry formulations such as wettable powders, granules, water dispersible granules, as well as liquid formulations including ready-to-use, suspension concentrates, and oil flowables. Other projects involved proteins, yeasts, fungal spores, oils, soaps, essential oils, and plant extracts.
Much of Dr. Andy’s industrial experience has involved interacting with and preparing documents for EPA and OMRI in support of product submissions and registrations. He has written position papers and prepared analytical enforcement methods.
Dr. Andy also has over six years in the nursery/greenhouse/landscaping industry, including over 3 years as a business owner. He is an ISA certified Arborist and an Agricultural Pest Control Advisor. He received his B.S. in Botany from SDSU, followed with an M.S. from La. Tech. Univ. in Life Sciences (agronomy), and then a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Ohio State.
