USDA Requests Biofuel Funding In Farm Bill
The funding will concentrate on cellulosic research and production, and support US President George W. Bush’s plan to reduce gasoline usage by 20% in the next 10 years, according to Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns.
"American agriculture faces the greatest opportunity of a generation to lead a future in which we get our energy by the bushel and not by the barrel," Johanns said. The 2007 Farm Bill will replace multiyear legislation that expires in September, and will authorize all US agriculture programs into the next decade.
