CropLife Latin America Names New President

A press release from CropLife Latin America reports that as of January 1st, 2009, Carlos Buzio, a recognized Uruguayan executive with experience in business administration, marketing and product development, will assume the presidency of the organization. “To work with CropLife represents a professional challenge and commitment to work with agriculture in Latin America, as well as with the associations and companies that CropLife represents,” assured Carlos Buzio, who will exercise the organization’s presidency from Costa Rica.

Carlos Buzio’s background comprises a successful 26-year career with Monsanto, where he held the post of Product Development Director for Latin America and was also co-Director for the Northern Region of Latin America. In 1997, he joined CropLife Latin America as an active member on the Board of Directors, and chaired the Board from 2000 through 2002. Recently, Carlos Buzio worked for the agricultural division of Strategic Diagnostics Inc., and has been an independent consultant in the areas of seeds, bio- technology and agrochemicals during the last four years. Carlos Buzio is an Agronomist, and holds a Master’s Degree in this same area from the University of Maryland in the United States.

Current president Alfredo Ruiz is leaving after nine years at the helm of CropLife Latin America, in order to undertake new challenges and personal projects.
