Dow Applies For Unique Wheat Herbicide

The product will combine the currently unregistered graminicide pyroxsulam with the recently approved broadleaf herbicide, florasulam and the established broadleaf herbicide, fluroxypyr. A registration decision for pyroxsulam in the US is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008.

The planned introduction of florasulam combinations is part of Dow’s strategy for the US cereal market, the company says. It introduced three herbicide brands to the sector since 2004 — WideMatch (fluroxypyr + clopyralid); Starane NXT (fluroxypyr + bromoxynil); and CleanWave (aminopyralid + fluroxypyr).

The company expects further registrations for two new ais this year, with new brands set to launch in 2008.
