DowAgrosciences Has Record 2nd Quarter
While parent company Dow Chemical Co. blamed high energy and raw materials costs for a 27% profit loss, its agricultural unit set a new quarterly record for sales, rising 25% to $1.4 billion. Organic growth and growth from recent acquisitions, as well as rising prices and low global inventories of farm commodities, contributed to the record quarter for Dow AgroSciences, a manufacturer of agricultural chemicals and seeds.
