New Dow India R&D Site To Move

Although Dow Chemicals, which has operated in India for more than 50 years, has not received a directive from the state, it will build its new US $100 million global R&D center in a different location than previously planned. Construction of the new unit was suspended last September while the state government reviewed concerns over pollution in the village near Pune.

Last July, protesting villagers attacked the construction site and set fire to an office and company vehicles. A decision on a new location will be made after a state panel submits its report in a few weeks, said Ashok Chavan the state’s chief minister.
