Benjamin Gass of Elephant Vert Offers Top 3 Tips for Restoring Soil Quality

Elephant Vert’s (EV) vision is clear: to give back to the earth more than humans take from it and enable farmers to combine performance, resilience, and sustainability.

Similarly, the company’s commitment is simple: to provide comprehensive solutions for more fertile, more vibrant, and more sustainable soils.

To accomplish this, Benjamin Gass, Marketing Project Manager, EV Group, provides advice for companies looking to help farmers restore soil quality.

1. Make Soil Quality a Strategic Issue

Soils are a complex and fragile ecosystem, essential to food security, biodiversity, and the fight against climate change. With our biosolutions, which are 100 percent compatible with soil biology, to improve aeration, structure, humification, and rooting, we strengthen the agronomic resilience of soils in the face of climatic hazards and increase their fertility. This is why soil health and quality are the primary objectives.

2. Offer Products Dedicated to Soil Restoration

Organic amendments and fertilizers nourish the soil before nourishing the plant, promoting humus and microbial biodiversity, with NPK content adapted to soils and crops combined with extensive expertise in the use of minerals to enrich our solutions.

In this approach, Isotonic B relies on the active ingredient rhizeos. In addition to its foliar action, rhizeos promotes soil-plant exchanges, optimizes nutrient assimilation, and strengthens the coherence between root nutrition and aerial stimulation. This dual dynamic — soil and leaf — provides more comprehensive support for the crop, supporting its physiological balance and agronomic potential.

Soil biostimulants based on plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria develop the rhizosphere and promote and stimulate exchanges between the soil and the roots.

Products derived from virtuous cycles (co-product recovery, circular economy) sustainably enrich the soil structure, combined with local manufacturing for all amendments and organic fertilizers in Africa, including innovations in formulation to facilitate application. Furthermore, organic fertilizer made from sanitized and granulated poultry manure contributes to the rapid availability of trace elements, as well as the regulation of soil pH through the addition of calcium, thus promoting plant growth.

3. Anchor Sustainable Agriculture Practices with Customers

The transition to healthy soils is naturally aligned with the fundamentals of sustainable agriculture. This approach favors practices that respect living organisms, limit pressure on resources, and promote natural cycles. EV is therefore involved with its customers on a daily basis through:

  • Specialized agronomic support to help farmers accurately diagnose, understand, and restore their soils. We have nearly 300 technical sales representatives for our French subsidiary BIO3G.
  • Field training in best practices for sustainable agriculture, the use of our products, and their integration into cooperative/farm/key account programs. Each year, several thousand farmers are trained by our teams or our partner suppliers.
