Two BASF Cereal Fungicides Registered In US

BASF has received US regulatory approval for two new fungicides with activity on head scab, rust, and other major cereal diseases, while also improving yield potential and quality, the company said in a release.

Caramba (metconazole), the first fungicide registered, provides activity against head scab. The second fungicide registered is a premix fungicide product containing the active ingredients pyraclostrobin (the same active ingredient in Headline fungicide) and metconazole.

With the addition of Caramba and the premix fungicide, BASF continues to strengthen its portfolio of wheat fungicides.

“Already available in Europe and South America, Caramba is the worldwide leading product for head scab and is now available to US growers as a solo product and as a premix with the world’s strongest strobilurin, pyraclostrobin,” said Jerry Minore, Senior Market Manager, fungicides, for BASF.

The premix fungicide combines two modes of action and curative activity, andprovides broad-spectrum activity against rust and other major cereal diseases, according to BASF.
