Bayer And Chromatin Launch New Crop Technology Alliance

Monheim, Germany-based Bayer CropScience has entered into a technological alliance and license agreement with Chicago, Illinois company Chromatin, Inc. for Chromatin’s proprietary mini-chromosome technology for crop improvement, Bayer reports in a company press release. The novel approach to gene stacking developed by Chromatin uses plant DNA to deliver several genes on a single chromosome.

Under the agreement, Bayer CropScience has obtained non-exclusive rights to use the technology to introduce Bayer’s high-value trait genes into cotton, with options to expand the program to other crops. Further terms of the deal were not disclosed.
