DuPont, Marrone Organic Innovations In License Deal
21 June 2007 The compounds are produced by naturally occurring micro- organisms. Their complex chemistry makes them difficult to synthesize on a large scale, and thus they are poor candidates to become part of DuPont’s line of pesticides. However, the chemicals make excellent candidates for organically approved biopesticides, the specialty of Marrone Organic Innovations.
According to the releases, the most promising chemical is a naturally derived herbicide for use in rice fields, which could be on the market as soon as 2009.
