Monheim, con sede en Alemania Bayer CropScience's insecticidal active ingredient spirotetramat, from the chemical class of ketoenols, which has been internationally marketed under the brand name Movento, has been granted regulatory approval in Australia, the company announced via press release. The active ingredient’s mode of action is to move up and down inside the plant via the plant sap, allowing distribution of the agent evenly in new shoots, leaves and roots, says the company, adding that spirotetramat protects crops against insect attacks for up to several weeks. It can be used in many major crops such as cotton, soy and potatoes.

whiteflies and some species of thrips. Australian regulatory authorities are also evaluating Movento for use on onions, mangoes, citrus fruits, tomatoes, capsicums, potatoes and corn.
Movento, lanzado por primera vez en 2008, está actualmente aprobado en EE. UU., Canadá, Austria, China, Colombia, México, Túnez, Turquía y Nueva Zelanda. Bayer CropScience planea nuevos lanzamientos este año en Argentina, Chile y los Países Bajos, con un eventual lanzamiento en más de 70 países. El insecticida ha sido aprobado en el Reino Unido, y su lanzamiento está programado para su uso en lechuga y brassica en 2010.
