Alexander Müller of Germany has been appointed Head of the Sustainable Development Department; José Francisco Graziano da Silva of Brazil is the new Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, to be based in Santiago, Chile; and Jan Erik Heino of Finland has been appointed the new Head of the Forestry Department.
Müller is the former State Secretary of the Ministry of Hesse, a Member of Parliament and a member of the Committee on Environmental Affairs. He also served as State Secretary to the Federal Ministry of Consumer Protection, Food and Agriculture of Germany, as a Member of the Agriculture Council of the EC and Coordinator of Federal Research Institutes.
Graziano da Silva es doctor y profesor de Economía en la Universidad Estatal de Campinas. Es el ex Ministro de Seguridad Alimentaria y Lucha contra el Hambre de la República Federativa de Brasil y Asesor Principal del Presidente de Brasil en Asuntos Económicos y Sociales.
Heino es exdirector general del Departamento de Montes del Ministerio de Agricultura de Finlandia y actualmente es director general de Metsahallitus, la empresa forestal estatal finlandesa.
