Harkey Named New CGWA President

At its annual meeting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, US, Ron Harkey, president and CEO of Lubbock, Texas-based Farmers Cooperative Compress, was elected president of the 12-member Cotton Growers Warehouse Association (CGWA). CGWA is a grower-owned service organization committed to high standards in handling cotton. Last year, nearly half of the total US cotton crop was received, stored and loaded for shipment by CGWA farmer-owned warehouses.

Other CGWA officers elected were: Jay Cowart, Altus, Okla., and Bob Snodgrass, Taylor, Texas. Support of the National Cotton Council is a prerequisite for CGWA membership.
