Indian Government Stalls Bollgard II Entry
14 May 2007 According to the Ministry, the introduction of Bollgard II at a higher price than Bollgard would confuse farmers, who can not distinguish between Bollgard I and Bollgard II seeds. The government also is suspicious that Mahyco-Monsanto Biotech Ltd., supplier of the seed, might deliberately offer a short supply of Bollgard I in order to force farmers to but Bollgard II.
