The CE marking of AMALGEROL and AMALGEROL ESSENCE is another team achievement for Hechenbichler, headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria.
Hechenbichler’s biostimulants are known in more than 40 countries for their ability to support plants in coping with stress situations such as drought, cold, UV exposure, or excessive moisture while simultaneously activating soil life. With the CE marking as EU biostimulants under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation, their effect on agricultural yield improvement is now also formally documented.
“For us, this represents an important milestone in the development of modern biostimulants,” explains Hechenbichler CEO Dr. Hanspeter Hueter. “Agriculture worldwide is facing increasing pressure from climate change, extreme weather events, and depleted soils. Our products help plants better cope with stress situations and fully utilize their growth potential. The fact that AMALGEROL products are now CE-marked as EU biostimulants with the effect ‘increased yield in all crops’ demonstrates the potential of this technology for stable and high-performing harvests. For us, this CE marking is far more than a formal regulatory step,” Hueter continues. “It documents that our products comply with the requirements of the EU regulation and that their effects are supported by trial data. For farmers, this primarily means one thing: additional security and reliability when supporting their crops.”
AMALGEROL stands for quality
“The CE marking is the result of decades of development work in the field of biostimulants,” explains Dr. Silvia Fluch, Head of Research and Development at Hechenbichler. “It reflects our close collaboration with farmers worldwide as well as our consistently research-driven product development. For our R&D department, this step represents an important scientific milestone,” Fluch continues. “It confirms that we are on the right path and encourages us to further expand our work in the field of biostimulants. Our focus is on optimizing the effect of AMALGEROL under different stress factors and thereby contributing to stable and high-performing yields.”
The products AMALGEROL SUN, AMALGEROL SEED and AMALGEROL STARTER build on this approach. They support plants during particularly sensitive development phases or help them cope with exceptional stress situations. These products are already available. “At the same time, we are thinking ahead,” says Fluch. “We are currently examining how the positive effects of biostimulants can also be used more specifically in other areas of agriculture — for example in slurry treatment or stable hygiene.”
CE marking in the EU – highest quality standards worldwide
With the CE marking under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, AMALGEROL and AMALGEROL ESSENCE can be placed on the market and used throughout the European Union as EU fertilising products. The certification significantly facilitates approval and registration processes, as CE-marked products are recognized across all EU member states and no longer require national registrations. For farmers, this creates a clear regulatory framework and provides transparency regarding product quality, safety, and documented product performance.
In addition, the requirements of the EU regulation are widely regarded as one of the most stringent regulatory standards for biostimulants worldwide. For Hechenbichler, these EU standards form the benchmark for the quality requirements in all international markets. Regardless of the country in which Hechenbichler products are used, they are consistently aligned with the high European standards for product quality, documentation, and scientific validation.
