ADAMA Ltda., a leading global crop protection company, has announced the launch of Actagon, a pre-emergent herbicide for wheat growers in India. Designed to help simplify weed management, Actagon offers a ready-mix liquid formulation that eliminates the need for on-farm tank mixing and can help reduce the number of herbicide applications required during the season. By streamlining field operations and supporting ease of use, it provides growers with a convenient option for managing challenging weed populations.

Actagon combines pyroxasulfone and metribuzin in a single formulation for pre-emergence application in wheat. This dual-mode combination is designed to deliver long-lasting control of Falaris menor and other important grass and broadleaf weeds, while supporting effective resistance management.

The launch will focus on India’s key wheat-growing states, particularly Punjab and Haryana, where Phalaris minor pressure is high and farmers are seeking reliable weed-control solutions.

“Resistance in Falaris menor is making weed management increasingly challenging for wheat growers in India,” said Germain Boulay, Head of Global Herbicides at ADAMA. “With Actagon, we are introducing a simple, reliable pre-emergence solution that helps improve weed control, reduce operational complexity, and support long-term field productivity.”

Field trails conducted across major wheat-growing regions in India showed strong residual weed control under high pressure from Falaris menor. The trials also indicated improved crop performance following a single pre-emergence application.
