Arysta Registers Iodomethane In New Zealand

TOKYO -– New Zealand has granted commercial registration for Ripper, a broad-spectrum soil fumigant from Arysta LifeScience. Based on iodomethane, Ripper is applied to bare soil pre-plant for effective control of a broad range of soil-borne diseases, nematodes, weed seeds and insects that threaten high-value crops. Ripper is approved for soil use in commercial and nursery strawberry production fields.

Iodomethane — developed as a drop-in replacement for the fumigant methyl bromide, which is being phased out internationally — is registered for commercial use as Midas in the US, Yokafume in Japan, and Wapiti 98 in Turkey. Registration for iodomethane also is pending in Australia, Morocco, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Chile and Argentina.
