China’s Pesticide Export Volume Rises 6% in 2014; Imports Climb 21%

China’s pesticide total export and import volume rose 10.8% in 2014 to $4.918 billion, while it posted a trade surplus totaling $3.377 billion, up 10.6% versus 2013, according to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, the total pesticide export and import volume of China in 2014 was USD4.918 billion, up 10.8% year on year, and the trade surplus was USD3.377 billion, up 10.6% year on year.

In 2014, China imported a total of 92,000 tonnes of pesticide, up 21.3% year over year, valued at $770 million, up 11.4%. The import volume of bactericide was 30,000 tonnes, up 10.5%, valued at $319 million, up 8.6%. The import volume of herbicide was 29,000 tonnes, up 23.4%, valued at $178 million, up 6.9%. The import volume of insecticide was 11,000 tonnes, a slight increase of 3.8% from the previous year, valued at $166 million, up 10.5%.

China exported a total of 1.161 million tonnes of pesticides in 2014, up 6.0% from 2013, while the value rose 10.7% to $4.147 billion. Of this, the export volume of herbicide was 806,000 tonnes worth $2.566 billion, up 6.5% and 8.1% respectively. The export volume of insecticide was 239,000 tonnes worth $1.066 billion, up 6.2% and 17.4% respectively; and the export volume of bactericide increased by 4.4% while the value rose by 10.5%.
