Clariant Steps Up Agchem Growth Strategy

Clariant, the Swiss specialty chemicals maker, said it aims to become the leading supplier for agrochemicals by 2018, and renamed its crop protection unit “Crop Solutions.”

The company said it will expand into complex formulations, tank-mix adjuvants, seed treatments, foliar fertilizer and enhanced application knowledge including field testing.

Clariant is targeting its strongest growth in Latin America —  the fastest-growing agrochemical market worldwide.

“We plan to build on our already-powerful position in inerts and adjuvants, and move into related areas of agricultural chemistry,” said Head of Competence Center Crop Solutions Peter Baur. “We know the customers, the markets and the technologies, so this is a logical progression.”
