FMC Corp. Joins S&P 500, Raises Soda Ash Prices

FMC Corp. was added to Standard & Poor’s S&P 500 stock index at the close of trading on August 18, according to Chemical Week. The company also
announced that effective October 1 or as contract terms permit, it would raise the price of off-list soda ash by US$10/ton for all grades.

In July, FMC Chairman and CEO Bill Walter told investors that US soda ash operating rates are expected to be between 95% and 100% in the
third and fourth quarters 2009. Walter expressed his belief that US producers would be operating in a sold-out condition, resulting in
domestic market price increases in 2010.
