India’s Consolidating Seed Sector

India’s more than 300 seed research companies have enjoyed double-digit growth during the past few years. The country’s growing agricultural demand has prompted farmers to opt for higher-yielding hybrid seeds, and R&D companies have capitalized by producing new seed technologies.

In the past few years, mergers and acquisitions have moved most of those technologies into the portfolios of multinational companies and about 10 large domestic companies, including Rasi and Crystal Crop Protection, according to The Economic Times.
