Nufarm Acquires DuPont PGRs For Cotton

Nufarm Ltd. announced that it has acquired a range of plant growth regulator (PGR) products from DuPont Crop Protection: CottonQuik, First Pick, and Ginout.

The three products are based on the active ingredients ethephon and mepiquat, and are used to improve cotton harvest efficiency as well as yields, said a Nufarm release on its corporate web site.

With the acquisition comes patents, trademarks, registrations, and manufacturing and formulation processes on a global basis. The product’s major markets are currently the US and Brazil, and global sales are approximately US $10 million.

Doug Rathbone, managing director of Nufarm, said the addition of these cotton products will give the company a boost in the US and Brazilian cotton markets. "Together with existing key Nufarm product positions such as glyphosate and imidacloprid, and a range of cotton products delivered via the recent acquisition of the Etigra business, we now have a valuable portfolio offering that will elevate cotton to a primary crop focus in the USA."
