Rain Deficit, Pest Infestation Impact Indian State

A rain deficit during the monsoon season and a pest infestation have hurt crops in several districts in the Indian state of Telangana, according to a report in the Times of India.

Farmers were already suffering losses with several crops, including cotton and maize following the limited rainfall. Now, farmers in five districts in Telangana must deal with a pair of paddy pests, the paddy leaf mite and the brown plant hopper, both of which have been found in the Warangal, Nalgonda, Karimanagar, Khammam and Mahabubnagar districts.
