UK Growers to Launch New Biopesticide Firm

United Kingdom-based growers are set to launch a new biopesticide firm, Real IPM UK, with the aim of accessing a new range of broadacre African biopesticides currently unavailable in Europe.

Real IPM UK works with biocontrol manufacturer Real IPM Kenya, and says its aim is that “all growers can afford prophylactic preventative biopesticide programmes that reduce reliance on chemical pesticides.”

“We want UK farmers to be able to use these effective, innovative, competitively-priced pest control tools and strategies which minimise the development of resistance in key insect pests and protect non-target biodiversity,” the company’s website states.

The company is launching on Oct. 28, 2015, and is inviting farming companies, trusts, foundations and environmental impact investors to apply for the investment opportunity.

On the company’s formation, it said that UK farmers visiting Kenya saw the “exciting range of Kenyan biopesticides in action and insisted that Real IPM UK Ltd was formed to get this technology into the hands of farmers around the world.”
