Ceradis Launches MusaCare in Ecuador, Guatemala and Honduras

Ceradis B.V. has introduced MusaCare, a patented specialty fertilizer for banana in Ecuador, Honduras and Guatemala. MusaCare is developed specifically to increase yields and stimulate the natural resistance of banana against Black Sigatoka.

“Our long standing collaboration with Wageningen University and Research Centrum (WUR) allowed us to jointly develop MusaCare with a highly compatible formulation and explicitly adapting it for aerial applications in banana plantations,” said Sebastian Sanchez Gerritsen, Sales Manager LATAM of Ceradis.

Results show that MusaCare fertilizer naturally optimizes the nutrient levels of the banana plant. The increased level of available phosphorus ensures ideal energy disponibility, while the increased levels of potassium boost the banana plants metabolic efficiency, therewith avoiding the loss of valuable water that is now retained efficiently in the cell. As a result, banana plants become stronger and increase their yield.

MusaCare is also a copper deficiency corrector enriched with phosphorus in the form of phosphite ion. By targeting copper deficiency, MusaCare strengthens plant development, which increases crop yield and makes it more resistant to fungal attacks.

The specialty fertilizer for banana MusaCareC is currently also registered in Costa Rica and Colombia. Ceradis plans to launch MusaCare in the Dominican Republic and Panama by 2013 together with Grupo Transmerquim (GTM), MusaCare’s exclusive distributor for the region. More information on the product and distribution is available through Ceradis at www.ceradis.com or on the website www.musacare.com.
