Bayer CropScience Re-Opens Fire-Struck India Plant

ANKLESHWAR, India — Bayer CropScience has re-started production at its Ankleshwar plant, except for the active ingredient Ethoprophos, said a company press release. Following a fire on March 22, which began in a storage tank and killed plant engineer Vaibhav Saxena, the company was asked to temporarily stop production at the plant. Authorities in Gujarat issued Bayer CropScience a three-month production allowance, during which it will comply with an investigation.

Production at Agro-Chemicals Plant 4, the actual site of the fire, will not yet resume operations.
